- Subaru has removed the bare-bones base model from its Impreza lineup for 2026
On paper, the Subaru Impreza will see a big price hike for the 2026 model year. In practice, it won’t.
The difference? Subaru has removed the lowest-cost model from the lineup.
The 2026 Impreza will be offered only in Sport and RS trims.
Everything our editors like about the Impreza will stay intact, including its standard all-wheel drive (AWD), spacious interior, and impressive range per fill-up.
Sport models will continue with a 2.0-liter flat 4-cylinder engine making 152 horsepower – a respectable number for a mainstream compact car and one that will meet the everyday needs of the average driver.
RS models get a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder now making 180 hp. That’s two fewer than the 2025 model, but Subaru says the loss comes from an improvement. A revision to the engine “makes more torque available for better responsiveness at lower RPM,” the company says, which should make it feel more powerful at neighborhood speeds.
Other changes for the new model year include a Citron Yellow Pearl color option and an auto shutdown that will turn the engine off after half an hour of idling.
2026 Subaru Impreza Pricing
All prices include a $1,195 destination charge. Alaska residents should add another $150. Subaru also notes that destination charges “may vary” in Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The 2026 Subaru Impreza is expected to reach dealerships this fall.
