Sherwin-Williams Predicts These 4 Color Palettes Will Dominate Homes in 2026—and One May Surprise You

Sherwin-Williams officially announced the release of its annual 2026 Colormix Trend Forecast, giving designers and homeowners everywhere inspiration to refresh the shades in their spaces. While in 2025 the brand saw some new color trends emerge, this year’s Forecast serves as the second part to the 2024 Colormix Forecast Anthology: Volume One.

The 2026 Colormix Trend Forecast Anthology: Volume Two highlights 48 total paint colors, divided evenly into four beautiful palettes to give you plenty of painting ideas for every room in your home—eliminating the stress of picking the perfect pairings.

Behind the 2026 Colormix Trend Forecast

Each palette aims to feature the trends and colors that will be most popular in 2026 and beyond, with hues hand-selected by expert color forecasters.

In 2024, Sherwin-Williams organized its trend forecast into color families, including categories for blues and greens, reds and purples, deeps and darks, and lighter shades. This year, the paint brand analyzed how these shades evolved over the past two years and determine what lies ahead.

To exemplify the evolution of these trend-setting palettes, Sherwin-Williams chose to organize its 48 trending colors into palettes based more on the emotion and mood that each hue evokes. This resulted in four different categories: Frosted Tints, Sunbaked Hues, Restorative Darks, and Foundational Neutrals.

Frosted Tints

Comprised of colors that are light, airy, and downright magical, this palette transforms a space with a sprinkle of gentle color, from calming hues like a subdued lavender to beachy, breezy blues.

The Frosted Tints palette features colors like Lite Lavender, a dusty, warm violet shade; Watery, a blue-green color that turns your space into a summery coastal paradise; and Celery, a light green hue with yellow undertones that give it an organic, nature-inspired feel.

There are 12 total colors to choose from, and they’re the perfect way to upgrade your bedroom for a calming space, give your kitchen island on-trend accent cabinetry, or breathe a little serenity into your primary bathroom.

Sunbaked Hues

Earth tones are in right now, and Sherwin-Williams is taking them to a whole new level with its Sunbaked Hues palette. Inspired by midcentury design, you’ll find a range of colors from sweet sandstone pink to dusty earthen reds.

Henna Shade, for example, is a terracotta-inspired color that will both warm and liven up your space, especially when paired with delicate cream and beige accents. Heartthrob, meanwhile, is an undeniably bold and breathtaking color—a way to make a statement in a moody bathroom or maximalist seating space.

You’ll also find softer colors like the yellow Straw Harvest, complete with green undertones to make it a little more versatile. Sundew is a more playful neutral with a gentle yellow tone.

Restorative Darks

Moody yet comforting shades make up the Restorative Darks palette. Sherwin-Williams sought to include colors that are deep and soothing, embodied in shades like Dark Auburn—a cozy reddish-brown—or Tarragon, a deep neutral with alluring blue undertones.

These colors are fit for a dark academia home office or stylish modern bathroom, and you can always play around with the shades in this palette to add a striking accent wall or details to any space. Black Bean and Rock Bottom demonstrate how dark neutrals can inspire, rather than overwhelm, a room: The former is a gentle dark grey-brown, while the latter is a cool gray with modern green undertones.

Foundational Neutrals

This palette defines true neutral design. It’s the one to turn to if you want shades that serve as a backdrop for adding colors to your home in other ways. Cool tones like White Snow or Rare Gray give a chic and modern feel, while comforting classics like Mushroom and Passive are soft and gentle.

Just because Foundational Neutrals is a neutral palette at heart doesn’t mean you won’t still find deeper, darker shades within this grouping. Inkwell boasts a deep black with a hint of blue, a gorgeous option for when you want something that’s bold but pairs well with your existing decor.
