Newegg debuts its own community platform for gamers

Newegg, the online electronics retailer known for its stock of computers, components, controllers, screens and more, added a new community platform to its ecommerce site, targeting its gamer customers.

The Newegg Gamer Community will serve up news and discussion topics, along with polling, advice and places for participants to show off their custom setups.

Newegg is No. 71 in the Top 2000. The Top 2000 Database is Digital Commerce 360’s ranking of the largest North American online retailers by web sales. There, it falls under the Consumer Electronics category. Digital Commerce 360 projects Newegg online sales in 2025 will reach $1.31 billion.

What is the Newegg Gamer Community?

The Newegg Gamer Community signals the online merchant’s desire to own the space where shoppers are discussing their gaming habits and product choices. The brand has previously cultivated an active presence for Newegg on TikTok Shop, as well as livestreams on TikTok and its own site.

Now, it is staking out a place to attract enthusiasts and community activity on Newegg.com.

“Newegg is more than just a place to buy your next PC,” said Jim Tseng, vice president of product management at Newegg. “It’s an entire ecosystem, an extended family built on support, camaraderie, and tools that celebrate PC culture.”

According to Tseng, Gamer Community extends from these previous ambitions and efforts.

“We’ve been fostering this culture since launching Newegg.com in 2001, and we’re excited to now bring the community together on a global scale,” he stated.

Who Newegg wants to attract

“The Newegg Gamer Community was designed to be a community-first space,” said Maria Ayon, director of customer service at Newegg. “It’s not a shopping destination, it’s a place to build meaningful connections with like-minded gamers and PC enthusiasts, and to ask questions freely without hesitation.”

Newegg lists gamers, DIY builders, content creators, and tech enthusiasts as the types of members that it believes Gamer Community will serve.

In addition to posting their own content, commenting and showcasing their PC builds, members will also be able to converse with Newegg staff about issues they want to address. Those may include troubleshooting technical problems or soliciting advice on how to optimize a given setup.

Membership is free, and the company expects to launch more tools, content and engagement options in the future.

Newegg Gamer Community will be hosted on the retailer’s website at newegg.com/community.
