Prized by those who love both the raw beauty of California‘s rugged coastline and the manicured greens of one of the most prestigious golf courses in the world, Pebble Beach is one of the ritziest areas of the Golden State, if not the entire country.
And if it sells for anywhere near its asking price, this Tudor Revival mansion priced at $57.5 million will become the most expensive residence in the seaside community. (For reference, the highest sale ever recorded in Pebble Beach currently sits at $45 million.) Dubbed “Gem Cove,” the oceanfront spread is one of the most valuable on the West Coast, thanks in part to its location just steps from the Lodge at Pebble Beach and its outstanding coastline views, which stretch clear across Carmel Bay, from the fairway of Pebble Beach’s five-par 18th hole all the way to Point Lobos.
Property records show the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom abode is owned by Carl Henry Lindner III, a member of the prominent Lindner family of Ohio, whose fortune comes largely from the insurance and investments business. The Canning Properties Group at Sotheby’s International Realty, Carmel Brokerage holds the rare listing.

While it’s unclear when Lindner snapped up the European-style estate, it was built just a couple of decades ago, in 2003. The centerpiece of the entertaining spaces is the great room, topped with wood beams and spanning from a fireplace-warmed living room to a dining area with seating for eight. Stone arches frame the sizable chef’s kitchen, and there’s a bar and billiards room for more casual, boozy hangs.
Many of the rooms look out on the Pacific Ocean, including the ample primary suite, where a full wall of windows offers picture-perfect views, while the bathroom’s soaking tub sits beneath yet another window that opens up to the water. A wine cellar with several tasting areas is perfect for oenophiles who regularly make the trip north to collect Napa Cabs, and out back, the paved patio has plenty of room for alfresco hangs, plus a hot tub to boot. A large grassy expanse along the waterfront completes the property.

The wine cellar is ideal for oenophiles looking to store their collection at home.

The record-setting residence that sold last year for $45 million was owned by John Moores, the former owner of the San Diego Padres, who sold his longtime home, known as “Masterpiece on 18,” to an unknown entity, while another Pebble Beach spread offers a distinctly different Japandi style at a much lower, though still eight-figure, $10.9 million.
