Originally built between the 10th and 11th centuries as a defence tower against Saracen raids, it was repurposed as a place of devotion in the 14th century. Its history also includes a spell as the playground of a Neapolitan prince, but around 70 years ago the property was purchased and restored and has remained a privately held family treasure ever since.
