The fifth-generation Toyota Supra is, in large part, a BMW, but that didn’t make its comeback any less special for its fans, who are legion. The fifth-generation Supra is also in the midst of an extended goodbye, though it might be coming back in a radically different form, with even more power, according to a new report.

The report, from the Japanese publication Best Car Web, makes a number of startling claims, starting with the Supra, which will allegedly come back with over 500 horsepower. The new car won’t be supplied by a BMW-made six-cylinder, but instead will be a four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor. That would be an increase of over 118 horsepower from the fifth-generation car’s current output. Best Car Web says the electric motor will be behind the driver’s and passenger’s seats.

The rumored Supra will also have a 6-speed manual transmission available, along with an 8-speed automatic. Whether this alleged Supra is a global car, a car for Japan and Europe, a car only for Japan, or, perhaps, not a production car at all is left unsaid. Still, it could be released, or ar least shown, in 2027, according to the report.

For Toyota enthusiasts, there’s more: Best Car Web says there’s a new Celica on the way, too, and this one will be rear-mid engine, which Toyota hasn’t done since the MR2. The new Celica is reportedly in part inspired by the Alpine A110, and will have a carbon fiber roof and front and rear hoods. The power output is said to be around 400 horsepower. Like the Supra, it will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic. The new Celica even has a date attached, as Best Car Web says it is expected to be shown in Tokyo in 2027, with production starting in 2028.

Neither car was given a rumored price, but they would probably be in the range of $60,000 to $75,000. The current Supra starts at around $57,000 in America. A new Celica would be bigger news for many enthusiasts, since that car has a longer history than the Supra and hasn’t been made since 2006. For now, though, both cars exist in the category of rumors, big if true, as they say.
