Stella McCartney has named Tom Mendenhall its new chief executive, succeeding Amandine Ohayon, who is stepping down after nearly two years at the brand’s helm. The news comes amid a sharp downturn in luxury demand.
Mendenhall brings extensive experience in luxury fashion, including senior roles at Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford and Gucci. Most recently, he co-founded menswear store Jamestown Hudson, which he will continue to oversee alongside his new role.
The leadership change comes shortly after Stella McCartney bought back LVMH’s minority stake, restoring the brand to full independence. In the release, McCartney said she was “delighted” to welcome Mendenhall, adding that his luxury expertise would help propel the brand forward while upholding its ethical values.
Ohayon, who guided the company through its separation from LVMH, will remain an advisor during the leadership transition.
