GrubMarket expands with an AI reporting agent for food distributors

GrubMarket has introduced a new reporting AI agent to its GrubAssist AI platform, extending its portfolio of industry-specific tools for the food supply chain.

The release marks the company’s third specialized agent, following earlier launches focused on orders and inventory management. GrubMarket designed its AI agent to automate the process of generating business reports that food wholesalers and distributors typically pull manually from enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

Managers often face delays and added costs when trying to extract critical data such as:

  • Weekly shipment volumes
  • Changes in customer ordering patterns
  • Sales performance by representatives
  • Outstanding account balances

The new tool aims to eliminate those bottlenecks by delivering scheduled reports directly to decision-makers, complete with charts and downloadable spreadsheets.

What GrubMarket’s AI agent does

Built on GrubMarket’s food supply chain industry knowledge graph, the agent is capable of orchestrating complex workflows across APIs and browser functions, the company said. It can create and execute queries, send notifications, and adjust reporting schedules with contextual awareness of industry-specific terminology. The system also integrates with third-party business intelligence applications, according to GrubMarket.

GrubMarket says the technology will give operators greater visibility into their businesses, enabling them to better protect margins, identify missed sales opportunities, and cut the time spent on repetitive reporting tasks. Reports can also be targeted at specific team members to strengthen alignment across operations.

“We are empowering food wholesalers and distributors to be proactive, not reactive,” said Mike Xu, founder and CEO of GrubMarket.

Chief software product officer Genevieve Wang said the release reflects the company’s “agentic architecture” approach, in which AI tools not only deliver data but also execute multi-step workflows to provide actionable intelligence.

GrubMarket operates across all 50 U.S. states and maintains a presence in Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
