The Coziest Hobby Each Zodiac Sign Should Try This Fall, According to an Astrologer

2025 has been the year of staying in, and with fall nearly upon us, that’s not about to change anytime soon. If you’re looking to pick up a new hobby for the chilly fall months, astrology may be all you need to point you in the right direction. As it turns out, the traits and characteristics of your sign’s ruling element and modality can tell astrologers a lot about the activities you may enjoy.

KJ Atlas, a professional astrologer and business coach at KJ Atlas Astrology, shared her celestial insights on which cozy fall hobby you should try based on your zodiac sign, and her answers made so much sense. So cuddle up, grab your zodiac sign’s favorite meal, and read on to discover the fall hobby that’s written in the stars for you.

Aries (March 21-April 19): Homebrewing

Aries is the first sign in the zodiac, known for its bold, ambitious, competitive, and energetic nature. This cardinal fire sign isn’t afraid to live life to the fullest, often with an unquenchable thirst for a challenge. They’re positive, charismatic, vibrant, and natural leaders and doers. For that reason, Atlas says that tackling a new and exciting activity, such as setting up a homebrew station, is the ideal fall hobby.

“Aries, you love a challenge—so why not doctor up a homebrew station for small batch beer or kombucha?” she says. “Play with different flavors, perhaps even a little spice, to honor the fall and your Marsy heat.”

Just try not to get too carried away with making the best homebrewed beer or kombucha. We all know how competitive Aries can be.

Taurus (April 20-May 20): Baking Bread

Taurus possesses a proclivity for serene, cozy, and sensual experiences. Pleasant sounds, tastes, feelings, and aromas are high on the priority list for this warm, down-to-earth sign. As such, Atlas says that baking bread is the perfect cozy fall hobby for Taurus, who appreciates the finer things in life but simultaneously isn’t afraid to put the work to get them.

While traditional bread is foolproof option, Atlas recommends giving focaccia a try instead (sourdough is so 2020). Pillowy, soft, and finished off with your choice of toppings, from savory herbs and vegetables to sweet chocolates and syrups—once you get a taste, you’ll be hooked.

“Few things make Taurus as happy as warm carbs, but Taurus equally enjoys feeding others,” she says. “Once you get on a roll, you’ll have bread in abundance, so share with neighbors and friends.”

Gemini (May 21-June 21): Start a Substack

The first air sign of the zodiac, Gemini is the life of the party: inquisitive, creative, and socially adept. They can juggle several pursuits at once, from passions and hobbies to careers and friend groups. Symbolized by the celestial twins, it’s said this air sign had to double itself just to keep up with its various commitments.

Geminis are commonly referred to as the social butterflies of the zodiac. Coupled with the fact that they’re governed by Mercury, the messenger planet of communication, Atlas says Geminis should try their hand at starting their own blog or Substack to help channel and share their creative ideas and passions with the world.

Stuck for topic ideas? Atlas recommends starting with personal passions, like favorite recipes, weekend trips, and products.

“You’re a natural influencer and a great writer, so share your ideas and experiences so all can benefit,” she says.

Cancer (June 22-July 22): Canning

Cancer is a cardinal water sign represented by the celestial crab, known for being extremely intuitive, emotionally aware, compassionate, and domestically-oriented. They love spending time at home and curating a space that feels cozy, inviting, and safe for their family and friends. They’re also the go-to host, always planning the next time they can entertain and feed their loved ones (Cancer rules the stomach, after all). Delicious, home-cooked meals are their thing.

As a maternal cancer, cozy fall hobbies like cooking, baking, and hosting dinner parties are likely already well-established in their repertoire. So, Atlas suggests trying out canning this year. Homemade pickles, tomatoes, preserves, jams, and more—Cancers will love the extra care and flavor canning adds to their already delicious home-cooked meals.

“Cancer’s love nostalgia, so honoring ages-old recipes and techniques will hit the spot this fall. Time to make some fig preserves!” she says.

Leo (July 23-August 22): Creative Cross-Stitch

Ruled by the celestial lion, Leo is notoriously loyal, dramatic, playful, and passionate. They’re natural entertainers with an innate confidence that helps them shine in any crowd. This fire sign is ruled by the sun and governed by the heart, making them being courageous, charismatic, and dynamic. Often drawn to creative pursuits where they can freely express themselves, Atlas says creative cross-stitch is an excellent fit for Leos looking to slow down this fall.

“You need something creative to express yourself, Leo,” she says. “Perhaps it’s time to take up creative cross-stitch. It doesn’t have to be serious—use funny words or images and frame them as art or cute holiday gifts later.”

Virgo (August 23-September 22): Morning Pages

Virgo is a logical and practical earth sign, acclaimed for its attention to detail, intellect, and perfectionist tendencies. They’re thinkers, with busy minds that thrive when they have a problem to solve or a complex task to complete. These qualities allow them to excel at whatever they put their mind to and produce beautiful, high-quality work.

For analytical Virgos, Atlas says that completing morning pages is the quintessential way to start their cozy fall days. Morning pages will help them clear their busy minds, channel their big ideas, and track their progress in various areas of life.

“Gather a bunch of journal prompts so you never have to start from scratch,” she says. “This will help you, Virgo, stay tuned in and organized this fall.”

Libra (September 23-October 23): Candle Making

As a cardinal air sign, Libra season marks the beginning of fall. These signs famously have exquisite taste, sophistication, and a desire for harmony and equilibrium around them. They enjoy being surrounded by beautiful things and people and greatly value companionship. At the same time, they’re recognized as excellent mediators due to their inherent sense of empathy and natural diplomatic skills.

For the sensual and aesthetically-inclined Libras, Atlas says a hobby like candle making is a match made in heaven.

“Honor your season with things that make your home sensual and multi-dimensional, such as candles and fragrance oils,” she says. “Take a class to learn how to add a personal touch when upgrading your home’s scents this fall.”

Scorpio (October 24-November 21): DIY Coffee Syrups and Foams

Passionate and mysterious, Scorpios are deeply-rooted in the psychic, emotional realm. Their creativity, charisma, and enigmatic power draws people in. Some may describe them as emotional and introspective, which is just how Scorpios like to be perceived. They seek to form deep, soulful bonds with friends and partners.

For this water sign, Atlas says venturing into the realm of DIY coffee syrups and cold foams is the way to go this season. Because what’s a good, brooding emo session without a steaming cup of coffee, right?

“Many Scorpios are passionate about their brew, so take it up a notch by cooking up something special to look forward to in the morning,” she says. “Experiment with making syrups and cold foams for your morning coffee. Try cardamom.”

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21): Upcycling Clothing

The last fire sign of the zodiac, Sagittarians are renowned for being vibrant storytellers, explorers, and creative individuals. They’re colloquially referred to as the comedians of the zodiac, captivating everyone around them with their innate humor and magnetic charm.

These Archers chase their passions fiercely, which is impressive because they have many of them! According to Atlas, upcycling and reimagining old clothing is an excellent fit for this adventurous and curious fire sign.

“You’ve got a way of turning pumpkins into carriages in anything you do, so why not upcycle old clothing?” she says. “Learn new sewing techniques so you can embellish, alter, and rethink dated or ill-fitting pieces. You’ll look more like yourself if you add a bit of sparkle.”

Capricorn (December 22-January 19): Calligraphy

Like the other earth signs, Capricorn is commonly described as reliable and practical. However, what sets this cardinal sign apart is its unique and relentless spirit and hidden, playful wild side. Capricorns are ambitious, hardworking, grounded, and poised, often making others feel at ease.

That said, they don’t like to waste time on trivial projects. With so much to accomplish in life, slowing down is a challenge. But even the most serious signs deserve to rest and check out with mindless hobbies, Atlas says.

According to her, calligraphy is a great fall hobby for the hardworking Capricorn. “It’s productive and relaxing. Then use your new skill to send beautiful holiday cards,” she says.

Putting your new hobby to practical use? That’s a Capricorn trait for sure.

Aquarius (January 20-February 18): Foraging

Aquarius is considered the humanitarian of the zodiac: intellectual, progressive, and deeply concerned with the “greater good” and making a difference in the world. While the other air signs focus their social values on interpersonal relationships, Aquarians take a more community-minded approach. They’re not afraid to stand up for what’s right and are deeply connected to their morals and values.

Consequently, this air sign is drawn to hobbies and activities that are ethical, socially conscious, and environmentally friendly. They’re always looking to make a positive impact, even in their free time.

“Foraging was made for Aquarius: practical, environmentally friendly, social, and educational,” Atlas says. “Learn about all the herbs, mushrooms, and plants in your area, and set a few dates to go gathering. Bring a gaggle of friends along who can make the process more interesting.”

Pisces (February 19-March 20): DIY Teas and Dried Herbal Infusions

No other sign is as empathetic, sensitive, and compassionate as Pisces, which is said to have learned and absorbed the lessons of all the signs that came before it. Like the other water signs, Pisces are deeply connected to the emotional realm and in touch with their intuitive side. They’re effortless trend setters, artists, and creatives.

For this caring and sensitive sign, Atlas says a mindful activity like DIY tea-making is the perfect fit. You’ll not only reap the benefits of this hobby yourself, but you can also gift your homemade tea and herbal infusions to loved ones.

“Your generous heart will be motivated to stick to it if you know it’s going to be enjoyed by someone you love. Bonus points if they come from your own garden or one nearby!” she says.
