Salesforce and OpenAI announced new ways they would begin working together, including making Salesforce’s Agentforce 360 platform accessible through ChatGPT.
The technology companies will debut a range of new integrations, which they detailed on the first day of Salesforce’s annual Dreamforce conference in San Francisco.
Those integrations will also bring OpenAI’s Agentic Commerce Protocol for Instant Checkout to Agentforce, in addition to adding ChatGPT to Salesforce’s Slack and some OpenAI capabilities in the Agentforce 360 platform.

“As consumers, we already get instant recommendations or insights from ChatGPT,” said Marc Benioff, chair and CEO of Salesforce. “Now enterprises can deliver that same intelligence and immediacy.”
Benioff noted in a released statement that he sees the OpenAI deal “creating the trusted foundation for companies to become Agentic Enterprises.”
Among the Agentforce 360 features made available in ChatGPT’s interface, Salesforce listed querying sales records, reviewing customer conversations and building Tableau visualizations.
In addition, OpenAI’s newest models, such as GPT-5 will be accessible to Agentforce users for purposes such as building AI agents and prompts within Salesforce’s platform.
What OpenAI’s ChatGPT will gain
“Our partnership with Salesforce is about making the tools people use every day work better together, so work feels more natural and connected,” said Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI. “It’s an important step in how AI can improve daily workflows under our efforts together.”
The deal means retailers using OpenAI’s Agentic Commerce Protocol for checkout will see an integration with Agentforce Commerce (formerly known as Commerce Cloud).
Moreover, Salesforce’s Slack users will be able to access ChatGPT through Slack’s interface. With that access, OpenAI’s Codex agent for writing and editing code will also be available.
OpenAI’s features are available to Salesforce and Slack customers as of Oct. 14, according to Salesforce.
In North America, 76 of the Top 2000 online retailers use Salesforce as their ecommerce platform, according to Digital Commerce 360 data. In 2024, those 76 online retailers combined for more than $182.46 billion in web sales. The Top 2000 is Digital Commerce 360’s database ranking North America’s largest online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales.
