If your indulgence of choice leans a little stronger, Drinks By The Dram has created a festive liquid treat for serious whisky collectors and enthusiasts. This Advent calendar features 30ml samples of 24 rare whiskies, many of which are nearly impossible to acquire – so rare, in fact, that “the warehouse cat has never seen them,” says Dr Sam Simmons, head of whisky at Master of Malt.
Highlights include the Balvenie 40 Year Old, Glenfarcas 1958 Cask 2061 (just 130 bottles ever released), Karuizawa Five Decades, Glenfarcas 60 Year Old and the Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2012.
For Christmas treats of this caliber, flimsy paper doors simply won’t do. The calendar, more akin to a cabinet, is crafted from black oak and walnut, with suede linings and a moleskin dust cover, evoking an antique apothecary chest. And if 24 whiskies weren’t enough, it also includes detailed tasting notes and two Riedel glasses for the full experience.
