Facebook Marketplace announced new features last week, saying it is “evolving the Marketplace experience to make it more social and collaborative.” While many features are buyer-facing, one that could impact sellers in a big way is a feature making it easier for shoppers to ask sellers questions.
Facebook explained, “When you start a chat with a seller, you’ll see a “Suggested questions to ask” button pop up. Tap it, and Meta AI will use the details from the listing and your conversation to suggest questions you might want to ask the seller.”
But questions from FBM shoppers may be the last thing sellers want – anyone who sells there can probably relate to the following humorous video posted to YouTube, “If Facebook Marketplace was an actual marketplace”:
Facebook dedicated a section of Thursday’s announcement post to its integration with eBay and Poshmark, which began earlier in 2025 “to give people more options across categories like fashion and electronics.” It said there are now over 200 million fashion items listed on Facebook Marketplace, coming in second place after home decor.
“Partner listings are marked with an icon on the listing and are integrated throughout your Marketplace feed so you’ll see them while you’re browsing. You can also see the listing and seller’s information on the Marketplace product details page, and when you’re ready to buy, you’ll be taken to the partner’s site for checkout.”
While the possibility of eBay sending listings to Facebook Marketplace sounds promising to sellers hoping for greater visibility, apparently it can be annoying to those who shop on Facebook Marketplace. When we searched Reddit.com for “eBay listings on Facebook Marketplace” to see what people were saying, Reddit displayed an AI-generated answer above the search results that stated: “eBay listings on Facebook Marketplace can be annoying for those looking for local items. Redditors offer tips on how to remove them, along with general advice on selling on both platforms.” The Reddit Answer also included those instructions on how to remove eBay listings from Facebook Marketplace.
But the meat of Facebook’s Thursday announcement was about buyer features on FBM:
Shop Together With Collections and Collaborative Buying
We’re launching collections, a new feature that enables you to create groups of Marketplace listings and invite friends to join. Simply save a listing, start a new collection, and choose whether to make it public or private. Add friends to your collection and share updates via Feed, Messenger, WhatsApp, and more. We’re also testing collaborative buying, so you can invite a friend to join your chat with the seller, making it easier to coordinate pickup, negotiate prices, and get answers to your questions — together.
Personalize Your Shopping With Reactions and Comments
You can now react and comment directly on Marketplace listings, helping others learn about item quality and discover unique finds. And when you like an item, Marketplace will learn what you’re interested in, so you’ll see more items aligned with your preferences, making your shopping experience even more personalized and relevant.
Facebook Marketplace also announced an “Improved Shipping Experience,” which contained information about its new checkout experience: “Buyers will now see total costs — including shipping and tax — upfront, and receive notifications as order status changes. This ensures clarity at every step and makes it easier to buy from sellers no matter their locations.”
Sellers also have the ability to open shops through Facebook. There are many articles online about the pros and cons of Facebook Shop versus Facebook Marketplace, such as this post by a third-party company called LitCommerce.
Leave a comment if you have anything to share about Facebook Marketplace including whether you’ve seen eBay or Poshmark items listed there.
