Once they were wed, real estate developer Bill Caleo and interior decorator Megan Noetzel began searching for a primary residence in New York City that could accommodate their blended family with a total of four children from previous marriages. They wound up purchasing two unfinished units on the 26th floor of the then-new Quay Tower high-rise in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood in 2020, and then set out to adapt the space to suit their specific needs.

The couple subsequently joined with members of the Brooklyn Home Company that Bill co-founded in 2006 to carry out their plans, and the completed project was featured in Architectural Digest. Now, five years later, they’ve decided to sell the six-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath apartment, asking just under $11.9 million. Lindsay Barton Barrett, Taylor Schultz, and Caroline Kasey of Douglas Elliman share the listing.

At the outset, the main goal was to make sure that everyone had their own room and felt comfortable. They also wanted to create a mix of new and vintage, so the roughly 4,500-square-foot abode wouldn’t feel so stark and harsh. The result? Calming and neutral interiors complemented with natural and organic finishes, oak floors, designer lighting, and walls of glass that ensure the views are the main event.

One of the first orders of business was coming up with a spacious, magazine-worthy chef’s kitchen, complete with walnut cabinetry, a marble-topped eat-in island, a Lacanche Savigny Classique range, additional Sub-Zero and Gaggenau appliances, and an oversized pantry. From there, a combined living and dining area has a built-in bar with a Thermador wine cooler, plus scenic views of Governors Island, Lower Manhattan, and the Statue of Liberty. A cozy library is finished with custom millwork.

In keeping with their aim of giving everyone a private oasis, the primary suite sports a corner bedroom lined with windows, a large walk-in closet, and a creamy plaster bath equipped with dual vanities, a freestanding soaking tub, and a separate rain shower. Three additional bedrooms each have their own baths, while two other bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill bath

Rounding it all off are $6,431-per-month HOA fees, which provide homeowners access to a 24-hour attended lobby, a 2,500-square-foot fitness center, a children’s play space, a music room, a pet wash, and two rooftop retreats. Right across the street, the 85-acre waterfront Brooklyn Bridge Park also has playgrounds, picnic areas, sports fields and courts, a roller rink, dog parks, kayaking, and year-round events.
