Porsche knows that there is always room for improvement.
The German sports car maker has just announced a new Manthey kit for the 992.2-generation 911 GT3. The performance package produces enough downforce to lop seconds off the track-oriented speed machines’ Nürburgring time.
If you have an interest in Porsche’s most hardcore models, chances are you’re already familiar with Manthey Racing. The German racing company and tuner, which is majority owned by the automaker, has been making performance kits for the most powerful 911s and Caymans since the star of the decade. These upgrade kits are developed in conjunction with the automaker itself and have helped the models they were developed for post eye-popping lap times at tracks around the world.

The latest Manthey kit pushes the new 911 GT3 even further into race car territory. The bulk of the upgrades are to the car’s already aerodynamic exterior. The kit adds a revised underbody, tweaks to the front spoiler (and extended lip) and rear diffuser (longer fins), and an even larger rear wing with a Gurney flap. The new elements combine to produce anywhere between 782 and 1,1190 pounds of downforce, depending on how they are utilized. So, yeah, you’ll be able to feel the difference next time you drive into the corner at your local track day.
Other upgrades include a four-way adjustable coilover suspension to help deal with the added downforce. You don’t even need tools to tweak the setup’s four-way adjustable struts, either, according to a press release. The brakes have also been spruced up with braided stainless steel lines, and lightweight forged 20- and 21-inch wheels are also available as an option.

Manthey, as is its wont, has left the powertrain alone, and it is easy to see why. The 911 GT3 is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter boxer engine that pumps out 502 hp and 331 ft lbs of torque. Thanks to all that might, it can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds flat and reach a top speed of 193 mph. It’s unclear, as of now, how the new package will affect those numbers, but Porsche says the new car was 2.8 seconds quicker around the Nürburgring Nordschleif than its kit-aided predecessor in testing.
Porsche says the new 911 GT3 Manthey kit will arrive in the U.S. next spring. The company has yet to announce a price for the package, but it tacked $57,300 onto the price of the 992.1 iteration of the car. Expect something higher this time around.
