Old Navy partnership with DoorDash enables same-day delivery


Apparel retailer Old Navy announced a partnership with DoorDash to expand the Gap-owned brand’s omnichannel reach.

Through the partnership, consumers can use DoorDash to shop Old Navy products for same-day delivery. In addition, Old Navy becomes one of the first major apparel retailers on DoorDash’s platform, said Lee Brown, chief revenue officer at DoorDash. It adds more than 1,000 stores across the U.S., and the partnership brings Old Navy “to tens of millions of monthly active users on DoorDash,” he said.

In late September, DoorDash debuted new fulfillment services and a delivery robot for retailers. It refers to its DashMart Fulfillment Services as a logistics service for retailers, managing inventory, packing and last-mile delivery. It handles these processes at DoorDash-operated hubs known as DashMarts. It also announced that it’s working with CVS and Party City to implement those services.

The Gap, which owns Old Navy, ranks No. 30 in the Top 2000. The database ranks North America’s largest online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales and more.

Why Old Navy and DoorDash entered a partnership

“We like to meet customers where they are — on their terms,” said Haio Barbeito, Old Navy’s brand president and CEO. “For us, that means removing friction and adding joy, making it easy for our customers and their families to get what they love, how and when they want it.”

Barbeito said partnering with DoorDash adds “a whole new value proposition that helps customers save both time and money. It makes shopping for great style as simple and accessible as ordering dinner or groceries.”

Brown said DoorDash has seen an increase in consumer interest for “on-demand apparel.”

“Just in time for the holidays, shoppers can grab last-minute gifts, family favorites, or everyday essentials and have them delivered ASAP,” Brown said.

DoorDash launched same-day retail delivery in 2023. In the past few years, several of North America’s largest online retailers have partnered not just with DoorDash, but also with Uber Eats and Instacart to increase their fulfillment capacity. Retailers are using the on-demand delivery platforms to provide same-day and scheduled deliveries to their consumers.

In early October, Kroger announced its partnership with DoorDash to expand its fulfillment capacity. It also announced a partnership with Uber Eats, which itself has partnered with more than five leading online retailers in the past several months, including Albertsons, Aldi, DSW, Sephora, Best Buy and Dollar Tree.
