Perplexity’s agentic commerce experience gained a major consumer electronics retailer ahead of Black Friday as Newegg announced that it would work with PayPal to enable artificial intelligence(AI)-driven discoverability and payments.
Products sold by Newegg will show up in Perplexity’s search results and recommendations, as well as other AI environments that support PayPal’s agentic commerce services. The payments vendors announced the offerings in October, debuting its Agent Ready payment solution and Store Sync feature for connecting merchants’ catalogs to AI discovery platforms.
Newegg is No. 81 in the Top 2000. The Top 2000 Database is Digital Commerce 360’s ranking of the largest North American online retailers by web sales. Digital Commerce 360 projects Newegg online sales in 2025 will reach $1.16 billion.

How Newegg will use agentic commerce
Newegg will use both PayPal’s Agent Ready and Store Sync features, the company shared. In doing so, it will leverage PayPal for checkout in AI environments and use PayPal’s fraud detection, buyer protection and dispute resolution services.
“AI is redefining the customer shopping journey, and over the past two years we’ve leveraged AI to build entirely new experiences for our customers,” said Newegg CEO Anthony Chow. “PayPal is pioneering innovation in this area, and its agentic commerce services enable Newegg to participate in this new shopping experience.”
Newegg product listings will begin appearing in Perplexity through other channels as individual integrations become available, according to the retailer.
PayPal provides payment processing services to 204 merchants in the Top 2000. It also provides payment security and fraud prevention services to 33 of the Top 1000 online retailers.
“Together we are helping customers discover the products they want through AI-powered environments while continuing to deliver the trusted service they expect from Newegg,” Chow stated.
Newegg’s expanding range of channels for discovery
Newegg’s push into agentic commerce follows other major announcements from the retailer in 2025. Most recently, the company debuted a Newegg store in Shein’s online marketplace. There, the retailer is actively trying to reach female gamers with an eye toward fashion-related interests.
Shein is No. 67 in Digital Commerce 360’s Global Online Marketplaces database. That database ranks the top such marketplaces by third-party gross merchandise value (GMV).
Gaming also played into an August launch for the Newegg Gamer Community, which the company hosts on its own website.
