AppDirect has acquired vCom Solutions in a transaction valued at more than $100 million.
The acquisition adds network and mobility lifecycle management tools to its business technology procurement platform. The deal includes vCom’s software platform, Buyers’ Club program and managed services operations. AppDirect said it will integrate those capabilities into its unified lifecycle management platform, which allows businesses to source and manage software, hardware, cloud and energy products from a single hub.
The companies did not disclose financial terms beyond the valuation. AppDirect is working to acquire Tackle, a cloud go-to-market platform that software vendors use to list and sell products across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and other marketplaces.
Over the summer, AppDirect acquired DNE Resources to expand in Canada. Then, AppDirect acquired Broker Online Exchange to expand into energy.
AppDirect’s acquisition of vCom
AppDirect CEO and chairman Nicolas Desmarais said the acquisition broadens the company’s ability to help organizations manage their technology infrastructure, particularly as mobile and network spending grows.
“vCom is a powerful platform that improves visibility and control over mobility and network infrastructure, providing the tools for businesses to save time, money and make informed decisions about their technology,” Desmarais said.
The move also expands the set of services available to the company’s network of roughly 14,000 advisors, who earn commissions by helping customers procure IT services. vCom shifted to a channel-focused approach in recent years by spinning out its direct sales workforce into independent advisors — a model that aligns with AppDirect’s go-to-market strategy. Those advisors will continue operating under a separate brand.
vCom CEO Gary Storm said the combined organization will provide a more complete view of technology spending for IT departments.
“AppDirect and vCom together provide the tools for IT to manage the lifecycle of their technology spend,” Storm said.
AppDirect supports more than 1,000 technology providers and 16 million subscribers across its marketplaces.
