Jeanie Buss is making good use of her Los Angeles Lakers sale money.
Fresh off transferring a controlling stake in the championship-winning NBA franchise to Dodgers owner Mark Walter for around $10 billion—which saw her reportedly walk away with nearly a billion dollars—the team’s governor and minority owner has now splashed out $4.2 million for an oceanfront getaway on the westside of Los Angeles near LAX.
Records show the seller is Anne Palmer, the ex-wife of billionaire real estate developer Geoffrey Palmer. First listed in late 2024 for $5.1 million, the home in the seaside neighborhood of Playa del Rey had its price subsequently reduced several times before going to Buss at a significant discount. Dena Luciano of Douglas Elliman and Yvette Busso of Berkshire Hathaway held the listing, with Meredith Schlosser of Berkshire Hathaway repping the buyer.
Lakers co-owner Jeanie Buss just picked up a westside L.A. duplex known as the Playa Beach House.

Originally built in the 1950s but recently updated, the midcentury stucco structure sits directly on the sand and offers picturesque ocean views stretching from Palos Verdes to Malibu. Two units have a combined total of four bedrooms and three baths in a little more than 2,200 square feet. Open living, dining, and kitchen areas open via sliding glass doors to a pair of decks, one with a built-in barbecue station, and there’s also an attached two-car garage and additional driveway parking for up to five vehicles.
The Buss family, which has owned a majority stake in the Lakers since the late Jerry Buss bought the team in 1979, will retain a 15 percent majority stake in the team, with Jeanie remaining as governor for five more years. Her brothers, Joey and Jesse, were recently fired from their scouting roles.
In addition to her newly acquired beach house, Buss still owns two condos and two apartments, all in the nearby Plays Vista area.
