Richards Building Supply expands CRM to speed digital estimating and ordering

Richards Building Supply said it has expanded the digital capabilities of its customer relationship management (CRM) platform to help contractors estimate jobs, submit bids and place orders more quickly for exterior building materials.

The distributor said contractors using the Richards Building Supply CRM can now access property data directly within the system to generate material quantities, prepare estimates and create purchase orders. That reduces the need for manual measurements or separate estimating tools, according to Richards Building Supply.

Richards Building Supply is a privately held distributor of exterior building materials, including roofing, siding, windows and doors. The company operates in more than 60 locations across 15 states, serving residential and commercial construction customers.

What Richards Building Supply added to its CRM

The added functionality allows contractors to view property details such as square footage, roofing squares, roof pitch and aerial imagery as part of the estimating and ordering process. Contractors can request measurement reports, which they can access within the CRM, the company said.

Richards said it intends for the update to streamline contractor workflows by consolidating estimating, quoting and ordering into a single digital platform. That would shorten the time between job review and bid submission, according to the company.

Ronald M. Guzior, president and chief executive officer of Richards Building Supply, said the changes reflect increased demand from contractors for faster and more integrated digital tools.

The property data used within the CRM is provided through an integration with EagleView, which supplies aerial imagery and measurement data for construction-related applications. The company said technology functions as a data source within its CRM rather than a standalone product.

Richards Building Supply built its CRM platform on software from Construct CRM, which provides digital sales and customer management tools to building materials distributors. Access to the CRM is available to customers purchasing stocked residential roofing and siding products, Richards Building Supply said.
