Volvo is busy publicizing its switch to electrification, but the brand’s best-selling vehicle remains the XC60 luxury SUV, available in gas-powered or plug-in hybrid editions. The bread-and-butter Volvo will see an update for the 2026 model year.
Volvo hasn’t discussed pricing. The 2025 XC60 starts at $48,345, including delivery fees.
Our test drivers respect the XC60 for its handsome design inside and out, strong safety scores, and the surprising performance of its T8 all-wheel-drive (AWD) plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version. But since a 2017 redesign, it’s grown dated.
Volvo will give it a refresh to bring the look and cabin technology in line with more recently-redesigned competition for the 2026 model year. This isn’t a thorough redesign. It’s what the auto industry calls a “mid-cycle refresh.”
This time that includes a new grille. Borrowed from the top-of-the-line XC90, this one uses diagonal strakes for a more contemporary look. In back, a smoked taillight shroud is new. Otherwise, the shape stays intact.
Inside, the highlight is a new 11.2-inch touchscreen, larger than the unit it replaces and, Volvo says, much faster. Volvo has begun marketing its cars as tech products as much as transportation devices, even promising free upgraded computer chips for some new models. Accordingly, the company says, the new XC60 gets Qualcomm Snapdragon cockpit software “more than twice as fast as the outgoing system, with 10 times faster graphics generation.”
Pixel density increases by 21%, the company says.
“In terms of materials, a mix of refreshed interior decors, inlays, and new premium materials such as Quilted Nordico and Navy Herringbone Weave offers a more exclusive and contemporary experience.”
Pricing and availability for the U.S. is still to be announced.
