I talk a lot about activewear. After all, it’s a part of my job as a wellness writer to find quality workout fits. But the truth is, even my own collection needs some work. I can easily stick to the same pair of leggings, tanks, or even sneakers for years when I know they never disappoint. Still, there comes a time when the wear and tear is too evident, from the fraying ends to excessive pilling on clothes. And I admit, a few of my pieces are dealing with exactly just that — so much, it needs a revamp. When I got the chance to test out Lululemon’s newest lineup of form-flattering pieces, I knew it was perfect timing.

The Glow Up collection includes shapewear leggings, tops, and onesies designed to hug your body while providing ample support for intense workouts. Each piece is available in a range of colorways from magenta and light blue to a classic black, along with various inseam lengths and cup sizes.

I did every low-impact (yet core-strengthening) workout you can imagine in the Glow Up Super High-Rise leggings; I’m talking burpees, jumping jacks, planks, glute bridges, and ab exercises for nearly an hour. And honestly, I was impressed with how these Lululemon leggings held up the whole time.

They’re as smooth and buttery-soft as you’d expect a pair of Lululemon leggings to be. The twist, however, is that they’re extra supportive, especially for your backside. Thanks to its sculpting waistband, the high-rise leggings give your behind a more lifted look. As someone with curves, it further accentuated my glutes for a toned appearance; my friends couldn’t stop complimenting the style when they saw it on me. The breathable pair also fits snugly on the body as they provide a strong compression that’s neither too restrictive nor stiff.

The same goes for the Glow Up Tank Top, which held everything in no matter what I was doing — I jumped, squatted, and walked around with no discomfort. The smoothing tank comes with a built-in bra that provides support for medium-impact activities. It also minimized bounce for my smaller chest and didn’t dig into my skin, allowing me to stay focused on my workout. Bonus: I wasn’t drenched in sweat after a 40 minute workout thanks to its moisture-wicking fabric. I do recommend sizing up if you don’t prefer a super tight feel.

I’m not the only one who’s a fan, either. Shape editor Michelle Parente, who’s also a fitness instructor, loves how Lululemon’s Glow Up Collection is the perfect balance of performance and style. She particularly swears by the compression leggings for strength training workouts, saying that “they stay in place, feel incredibly supportive, and are very flattering.” She added their secure fit makes her “feel comfortable and confident when I’m instructing in front of the class,” so much so that the leggings are now a staple in her collection.

Any good workout outfit isn’t complete without a pair of sneakers, of course. That’s why I also tried Lululemon’s Chargefeel 3 Workout Shoes, which are designed for running and training. This breathable pair featured a bouncy yet firm cushioning that took all the pressure off my feet — not to mention, its extremely grippy soles were pretty impressive, too. The sneakers have a snug fit along with a stretchy upper that still allows for a little extra wiggle room for your toes. On top of this, its narrow heel also keeps you secured as you move, which is one of the many reasons I found this footwear to be the perfect compliment to Lululemon’s other workout pieces.

The Glow Up collection checks every box I was looking for with new activewear pieces: strong compression, long-lasting comfort, and a flattering appearance.  The best part? None of the pieces sacrifice your ability to move freely. Prices start at $78, which is on the slightly pricier side, but it’s totally worth the quality — trust me. Shop the entire Lululemon Glow Up collection, here; items are already selling out, so don’t hesitate to try your favorites before they disappear.
