For under a million dollars, one can find all sorts of housing configurations: park- and subway-adjacent studios, one-bedrooms hidden in carriage houses or former shoe factories, and even the occasional true two-bedroom. We’re combing the market for particularly spacious, nicely renovated, or otherwise worth-a-look apartments at various six-digit price points.

This week, a Murray Hill one-bedroom with casement windows and East River views and a Brooklyn Heights high-floor one-bedroom about a block from the Promenade.

5 Tudor City Place, Apt. 1532

The Tudor City apartment, as shown in listing photos, has been renovated to include luxurious features, like heated bathroom floors, although some finishes, like those in the kitchen, are a little dated.

This one-bedroom apartment on a high floor of prewar co-op complex Tudor City has East River views from both the living room and the bedroom. There are large casement windows and sliding French doors connecting the two rooms, adding to the light, airy feeling of the apartment. The current renovation makes good use of the space: A Murphy bed and rows of cabinets are built into the bedroom, which is well-sized with a walk-in closet and windows on two sides. It also includes luxurious features: The bathroom, also windowed, has a deep soaking tub, heated floors, and a heated towel rack. The open kitchen has a dishwasher and full-size appliances, though the finishes are a little dated. All in all, it’s a comfortable space with a monthly maintenance of $1,903, which reflects the fact that it’s a full-service building with a 24-hour doorman and a gym, plus it’s just a short walk to Grand Central.

    70 Remsen Street, Apt. 9C

The Brooklyn Heights one-bedroom, as shown in listing photos, has large rooms, like this bedroom, and a number of closets, including a walk-in built out as a California Closet.

A prewar one-bedroom on a high floor, this apartment has nearly all the classic features you’d expect in a prewar co-op: large rooms, a huge entry foyer, parquet floors, and high, beamed ceilings. (The only thing missing, as far as we can tell, is the wood-burning fireplace.) The apartment has some nice modern updates as well: a dishwasher in the kitchen and a California Closet built into a large walk-in. The only quibble we have with it is the bathroom layout — because of the narrowness of the room, the toilet is crowded into a back corner right up against the glass shower stall. The full-service building (featuring a full-time doorman, a laundry room, and bike storage) is on a tree-lined block of Remsen Street, about a block and a half from the Brooklyn Promenade and a seven-minute walk to either the 2/3 at Clark Street or the 4/5 at Borough Hall. The apartment, though priced a little high compared to other one-bedroom sales in the building, is in line with Brooklyn Heights prices.

    436 Sterling Place Apt. 5

The Prospect Heights apartment, as shown in listing photos, has incorporated a workspace into the unusually shaped pass through kitchen.

This two-bedroom is priced well for the neighborhood. While the layout is a little funky — it has a pass-through kitchen that’s oddly shaped with a built-in workspace on one wall and kitchen stuff on two others — it also allows for two legal bedrooms, one with a closet and another with built-in storage. (And if you don’t mind working right in the middle of things, the built-in office is cute and convenient.) The living room also compensates for smaller, strangely shaped spaces: It’s large with three windows and exposed-brick walls painted white. The building has a low monthly maintenance of $1,147, and there’s deeded storage, bike storage, and stroller and scooter parking in the lobby. Plus it’s close to Prospect Park, Mount Prospect, and the Brooklyn Museum.

    601 E. 19th Street, Apt. 6J

The Ditmas Park one-bedroom, as shown in listing photos, has large rooms, like this living room, and totals 850 square feet.

At 850 square feet, this one-bedroom apartment is huge — the foyer alone measures nearly 14-by-11 feet and has two closets. The bedroom (also huge) has two closets as well, and there’s another off the kitchen. Besides its large size, the apartment has elegant details: parquet floors, high ceilings, arched doorways, and some built-in shelving. All the rooms have windows, and the bedroom has three. The kitchen and bathroom renovations are older but serviceable. The co-op has reasonable monthly maintenance of $890, and there’s private storage and laundry in the building. Pets are allowed too.
