It’s Etsy sellers’ turn to have account verification issues after some eBay sellers experienced similar problems this month. Numerous sellers reported that Etsy suspended shop listings and have been unable to get them reinstated.
One seller explained on the Etsy discussion boards on Monday that her account was suspended and her bank account was frozen pending account verification. “Etsy requested my driver license,” she said. “I uploaded it. My banking account is verified. My banking account is in my business name and nothing has changed.”
By Friday (today), the seller said her shop was still suspended: “My account is verified, I use SS, and business name and I uploaded my taxpayer documentation. One Etsy Rep told me to change my taxpayer name from my business name to my name. After 3 days still not unsuspended. Today Rep said to change it to a business name (which is on my checking and tax accounts.)”
Another seller reported today that Etsy had frozen their shop on Monday due to account verification, writing the following:
“I have had an Etsy shop for 11 years with no changes to my SS number, bank account or identity. I have uploaded a photo of my drivers license to Etsy support. My business is an LLC, so legally it uses my personal SS number. I have never had a problem with my identity on Etsy before. My bank account received a deposit from Etsy this week with no problem. My 1099 tax forms are all correct. I need support help from Etsy on this matter ASAP!!”
eBay sellers reported issues going through the verification process if they were single-member LLCs, beginning the week of March 9th. It appears this week’s problem impacting Etsy sellers could stem from the same issue.
