Jackson Walker and former bankruptcy client Basic Energy Services have reached a settlement agreement calling for the Texas law firm to pay more than $760,000 to resolve a fee dispute stemming from a romantic relationship between a former Jackson Walker partner and former U.S. Bankruptcy Judge David Jones of the Southern District of Texas.
Dozens of former bankruptcy clients of Jackson Walker are seeking fee forfeiture from Jackson Walker because the firm failed to timely disclose the relationship between former partner Elizabeth Freeman and Jones, who presided over the bankruptcies.
