Volvo has recalled 7,483 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles because a short circuit in their high-voltage batteries could trigger a fire.
Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:
The company tells federal safety officials that “supplier process deviation” left some batteries at risk of an internal short circuit, which “can increase the risk of a fire.”
The company knows of at least two incidents related to the defect.
Dealers inspect the high-voltage batteries in the cars for the defect. If they find one, they’ll replace the battery module.
