Maxwell Osborne cuts a mean pair of pants, a fact some will remember from his Public School days, or from his stint at DKNY. It was confirmed once more at a showroom appointment for his fall 2025 collection for anOnlyChild. On the rack were a variety of trouser silhouettes, ranging from some generously cut pinstripe slacks to an even wider, ballooning pair in gray suiting. Also in the mix were the designer’s signature double-pleat pants, with the external folds faced in white. Osborne himself wears them every day, he said.

This season he carried that pinched pleat detail to mini skirts, the best in an embossed leather version. He also applied it to the sleeves of shirts and tailored jackets, which will distinguish them from similar pieces in the market. On the flip side, Osborne continued to play with softer, less structured fabrications to great effect. Having turned the bubble hem silk t-shirt into one of his standout items, here he used the same bubble shape on a terrific pair of dresses. The slip version was flattering, sexy, and the right kind of weird—the puckering of the bubble hem started at the knees, and it moved beautifully. A dressier style came with puffy sleeves and shirring at the center front and back lines. As it turns out, Maxwell Osborne also cuts a mean dress.
