Most of the time, we compare cars from different manufacturers. With the 2025 Cadillac CT5 and 2025 Cadillac CT4, we’re studying sedans made by the same company. The difference here is size. The CT5 is a midsize luxury car, the CT4 is its compact stablemate.
Choosing between the two could be easy if occupant space in both rows is a priority. But for those buyers looking at a broader range of choices, or wavering between spending all the budget on a midsize car or keeping something back for a few options, then this comparison could intriguing. One thing to keep in mind is that the CT5’s previous entry-level trim (Luxury) has been discontinued this year, so the pricing gap between the two contenders is even greater than it once was.
Let’s check out these two Cadillac offerings and examine their strengths and differences.
2025 Cadillac CT5

The Cadillac CT5 debuted for the 2020 model year, so 2025 brings a mid-generation revamp. There are styling tweaks at the front, centered around a new grille design, plus a couple of new exterior paint choices. Inside, every new CT5 comes with a high-resolution 33-inch touchscreen incorporating a digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system itself is completely new, with Google Built-In, plus Amazon Alexa compatibility. More standard safety features also come on board, including blind-spot monitoring with active steering, and intersection assistance with automatic emergency braking.
The CT5 begins with a 237-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine linked to a 10-speed automatic transmission. One of the best things about the CT5 is its ability to become much sportier, with several engine upgrades ranging from 335 hp to a massive 668 hp. A 6-speed manual transmission is even available at the top end of the lineup. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional.
The CT5’s cabin provides plenty of room for five and features technology such as wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a 10-inch touchscreen.
Cadillac CT5 Highlights
Safety smarts: The Cadillac Smart System array includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a safety alert vibrating driver’s seat, rear parking sensors, and a Teen Driver mode.
Super Cruise: This feature allows hands-free driving on highways mapped by Cadillac. It can even handle automatic lane changes without the driver touching the steering wheel.
V-Series: For those wanting more performance, choose the CT5-V with its turbo V6, Magnetic Ride Control suspension, and Brembo brakes. Not enough? Check out the CT5-V Blackwing packing a 668-hp supercharged V8 with a standard manual transmission.

2025 Cadillac CT4

2024 model shown
The Cadillac CT4 sports an arguably appealing exterior design, and is the most affordable new Cadillac. It also enjoys a spirited powertrain, starting with a 237-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Moving up the model ladder brings a 2.7-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine making 310 hp. Alternatively, the CT4-V bristles with 325 hp and a 10-speed automatic. All-wheel drive can be added to any of those choices instead of the standard rear-wheel drive. The top model is the CT4-V Blackwing, generating 472 hp from a turbocharged V6. And to emphasize the “sport” in sport sedan, a 6-speed manual transmission with rear-wheel drive is standard. A 10-speed automatic transmission is also available.
The CT4’s cabin shows Cadillac’s evolution from interiors swathed in wood and leather with pillowy seating to a tech-oriented setup with high-end materials. Like the CT5, the CT4 launched for 2020. This year, however, there are no big changes — just a few new exterior paint choices, 8-way power-adjustable front seats for the CT4-V, and a new wheel design.
Cadillac CT4 Highlights
Wireless connectivity: In common with its larger stablemate, the CT4 includes wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and wireless charging as standard.
Super Cruise: Yes, we think Super Cruise is so good that it’s worth highlighting for both of these Cadillac sedans. The availability of hands-free highway driving in Cadillac’s most affordable car is one of the biggest strengths of the CT4.
More help: The Driver Assist package bundles adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and reverse automatic braking. It’s standard in all but the base trim.

Conclusion
It may seem strange to compare two vehicles from the same company. Then again, the cheaper CT4 offers a decent-sized engine in a nimble compact package for the price of a middling CT5. If finances allow, though, we think the extra roominess of the CT5 and its choice of even gutsier engines would probably sway us.
