This summer, I moved out of my childhood home and got first-hand experience in the perils of moving out. I’m very Type A regarding almost everything, so I had been mentally preparing for this move for months and scoured the internet for every article I could find that listed the absolute must-haves of moving into your first apartment.

I bought most things over time when I saw them in-store rather than buying online. And, if you’ve ever bought something in store, you know there’s nothing more annoying than ripping off a price sticker and the residue is still left behind—in comes the first thing I bought when I moved.

Goo Gone Original Liquid – 8 Ounce – Surface Safe Adhesive Remover

    The Spruce / Aliyah Rodriguez

Goo Gone has been my savior these past few months of living in my new apartment. I’m on my second (much smaller) bottle now, and it’s proven time and time again that this is a must-have for anyone who wants to put in less work to clean their new purchases.

I’ll rarely stand so firmly behind a product, especially when there is always a DIY option that can be done with things found around your home, but Goo Gone ranks highly on a list of affordable products that just make life a little easier.

From stickers on mirrors to random sticky spots on my counters and floors (where did these come from?) that soap and water weren’t enough to tackle, Goo Gone put them to rest with ease. The key is to remove the sticker first as best you can and then let the product do its thing on the remaining residue.

Not only does it pack a powerful punch, but it also smells pretty nice too—which is helpful when you have to use it on almost every new product brought into your home. The only drawback is that after you use Goo Gone on glass, particularly on mirrors, you still have to clean the glass. But that’s okay, the product promises to remove adhesive, not get your glass surfaces to shine.

If you’ve got a brand new mirror, cookware, or anything else that came with a pesky sticker on it, I highly recommend giving Goo Gone a try.
