eBay announced a generative-AI tool sellers can use to create videos featuring product photos “to attract potential buyers and help boost your listing’s visibility.” eBay released the news as part of last week’s eBay May 2025 Seller Update, and it made more of a splash this week with an announcement on its Innovation blog on Tuesday, explaining in part:
“Our new generative AI video tool intuitively allows sellers to transform product listing images into professional-quality videos. The tool uses AI to create short form video content from existing listing images. These videos can be customized and shared directly to popular social platforms like YouTube and TikTok. There is no need for video editing skills, extra equipment, or hours of work.”
eBay shared more about the gen-AI video tool during its main presentation at its May 7th Seller Check-in, which eBay posted for re-play on YouTube. Beginning at minute 36:27 of the May 7th Seller Check-in eBay posted on its YouTube channel, Product Manager Hazal Zorlu explained the features that eBay offers sellers to link their eBay accounts to their social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and TikTok).
At minute 38:44, Zorlu explained the new video-creation tool, which currently works with YouTube and TikTok, and at minute 39:59, there’s a demo video showing sellers how to create a generative-AI video of their eBay listings and share them on social media.
Interestingly the eBay social dashboard allows sellers to view how their social posts are performing.
The tool is available now for US sellers directly within eBay’s Seller Hub. eBay said it plans to expand the tool to additional platforms. “Our goal is to provide even greater opportunities for sellers to drive more visibility, engage new audiences, and expand their brand across social platforms,” eBay wrote.
