Welcome to the The Wind Up. What began as a joint effort between me and my colleague, Justin Fenner, to cover the best new watches released at Watches & Wonders—the world’s biggest watch fair, held in Switzerland—has now evolved into a bi-monthly vodcast series covering all things watches. Every two weeks, we’ll bring you our personal insights while sharing industry tidbits, noteworthy new releases, and some of the more interesting—and controversial—emerging trends. Plus, we’ll occasionally feature guests to spotlight some of the most creative, technical, and business-savvy minds in horology.
For our first episode, we take a trip down memory lane. Justin and I revisit the madness of Watches & Wonders during the adrenaline-fueled week when all the latest and greatest timepieces are unveiled by the world’s leading luxury watchmakers. We delve into the elephant in every room: tariffs. We also dish on our favorite new discoveries—from visiting Cartier’s métiers d’art atelier to Brad Pitt’s IWC and its upcoming big-screen debut.
We’ll end each episode with—yep, you guessed it—what’s got us wound up. Justin’s miffed about underwhelming boutique exhibitions, while I’m enjoying the sight of alpha males sporting dainty vintage cocktail watches. Tune in for more.
