Olivier Reza knows a thing or three about exceptional design. You’d expect nothing less, considering that the former financier has been leading his family’s eponymously named jewelry house since 2020. But Reza doesn’t let his meticulous consideration stop at the stunning accessories the masion offers. His sense of style suffuses his New York City home, too—and the CEO has opened his door to Robb Report, inviting us to take a look inside in the first installment of our new “Grand Tour” video series.
Reza likes to mix pieces from different eras, to see “how they talk to each other,” he said. That idea is on display the moment you walk into his home; the foyer shows off a checkered black-and-white tile alongside a moody, modern blue wallpaper and an abundance of art and trinkets. In the study, meanwhile, dark-hued walls and ebony wood are accented by abstract, colorful art. Design touches in the space include 1920s/’30s vases mixed with tableware from L’Objet. The stylistic diversity appears in the living room, too: As Reza points out, you’ll find a curved wooden desk from the 1930s in the corner, blue animal-printed chairs, and textured, grey sofas, among other knickknacks—including a furry Hass Brothers beast.
Having a good eye for collectables is embedded in Reza’s family history. His ancestors started in the gemstone business back in the 18th century, but it was his father, Alexandre Reza, who stepped out to create a brand all his own in the 1960s. Alexandre opened a Reza boutique on the Place Vendôme in 1984; then, his son moved the family business over to the Big Apple, with the current atelier perched on the Upper East Side.
Whether he’s on the hunt for his jewelry house or his own home, Reza enjoys the process behind finding various bits and bobs. “I find the stuff myself. I love that. For me, the fun is in the curation,” he told us. And as you can see, Reza is having plenty of fun indeed.
