Lincoln has issued a new recall to fix an old problem with 3,227 Aviator and Corsair SUVs from model years 2020-2023.

The company initially recalled more than 100,000 SUVs in 2023 because their seat belt warnings could chime for less than the federally required four seconds. Dealers fixed the issue, for most, with a software update.

But the company has since learned that the system dealers used to update software could occasionally report success when it failed. Dealers unknowingly returned some vehicles that hadn’t been fully repaired.

Lincoln can determine which vehicles had an unsuccessful update, and a new process lets dealers verify success before returning a car to its owner. So the company needs owners to bring a small number of the vehicles back.

Dealers will fix the problem by installing the same software update that failed last time.

Recall repairs are always free. But millions of us miss recall notices every year and unknowingly drive recalled vehicles. Find out if your car needs any free safety repairs at our easy recall center.
