Rivian has recalled 27,882 R1T pickups and R1S SUVs because their front turn signals may not illuminate.

Rivian tells federal safety officials that “incorrectly manufactured parts” from a supplier have left some vehicles with inoperative or intermittent front turn signals. Although no such incidents have been reported, the defect could contribute to an accident, since drivers might believe they’ve signaled their intent to turn when they haven’t.

As the problem develops, owners might see a warning reading “turn signal lights not working. Service it soon” on the driver’s display. They might also hear the turn signal click activating twice as fast as normal.

The company will inspect the lamps and replace them if necessary to fix the problem.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.

Millions of people miss recall notices every year and unknowingly drive recalled vehicles. Our recall center has an easy vehicle identification number (VIN) tool to help you find out if your car needs any free safety repairs.

Cox Automotive, parent company of Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader, is a minority investor in Rivian.
