    • Colombia-based Avianca Airlines is launching several new routes between Latin America and the United States.
    • The destinations include Cali, Cartagena; Pereira, Colombia; and San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
    • The new routes are available for booking, with some tickets as low as $99.

Flying to Latin America from the United States just got easier.

Avianca Airlines—based in Bogotá, Colombia—announced new seasonal routes between Latin America and various United States cities.

Travelers will soon be able to travel non-stop between popular cities such as Cali, Colombia, and San Pedro Sula, Honduras, from New York and other major hubs. Additionally, with a network of over 160 destinations, travelers can utilize the new direct routes to further explore other cities in the region.

From New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), travelers can get direct access to Colombian cities like Cali (CLO), Cartagena (CTG), Pereira (PEI), and northern Honduran city San Pedro Sula (SAP), among other destinations. (Travel + Leisure spotted ticket availability for many of the new routes, including $99 one-way tickets from JFK to SAP.)

Avianca will also resume a seasonal service between Orlando and Medellin, Colombia (MDE) and between Orlando and El Salvador’s capital San Salvador (SAL).

The airline also expanded its Miami (MIA) hub with seasonal service to Cali and Cartagena. Other routes include round-trip service between Las Vegas (LAS) and San Salvador, as well as Chicago (ORD) and Guatemala (GUA).

All of the flights are now operational, and began service earlier this summer. The flights will operate on an A320, and passengers can view the full flight schedule and book future tickets on Avianca’s website.

The airline has been on the move with expansion plans throughout the United States, including a recently launched new route from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Colombia’s capital city, Bogotá (BOG).

“In 2024, we transported more than 4.6 million passengers to and from the United States on over 30,000 flights. In 2025, our commitment to offering greater connectivity remains strong. That’s why, during this peak season from June to August, we’re reopening our seasonal routes to provide more nonstop options during peak travel periods,” Rolando Damas, a sales director at Avianca, told Travel + Leisure.

Avianca is a member of the Star Alliance network, which means frequent flyers of United Airlines, another Star Alliance member, can earn loyalty points or use their loyalty benefits on Avianca, such as free checked bags or upgrades.
