It’s confirmed. Teddi Mellencamp is once again single.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared the news in the July 11 episode of the Diamonds in the Rough podcast, when her co-host Erika Jayne asked for an update on Teddi’s “mystery man.”
Teddi Mellencamp explains why she split from her boyfriend
“We’re already done,” Teddi revealed. “Yeah, I had to call things off.”
Erika confessed she wasn’t “expecting” the development and questioned what prompted the breakup. Teddi said it was she who initiated the split, suggesting it wasn’t a mutual decision.
“It started getting to the point where it was starting to get a little bit more serious,” she explained. “And I was like, ‘I don’t have the capacity for this right now’… There’s nothing that he did or anything like that. Nothing dramatic happened.”
The accountability coach clarified that the romance was getting “more serious” on her ex-beau’s end, and she simply wasn’t in a place for that kind of commitment. Teddi is currently navigating a divorce from her husband of 13 years, Edwin Arroyave, and is undergoing treatments for Stage 4 cancer.

“He’s a really nice guy, couldn’t be a nicer guy… the timing sucks,” she continued. “I don’t feel my best, so when I have downtime, I want to rest. It’s not even about a need right now. And I think that’s the crazy thing about this. Who knows? Three months from now, something else may be happening. I don’t know. But in the way I’m feeling right this moment, the second I’m done working with my kids and doing all the stuff that I need to do, I want to lay.”
Erika Jayne reacts to Teddi Mellencamp’s breakup announcement
Teddi indicated she began the relationship several months ago, not too long after she was diagnosed with brain and lung tumors. She said she needed “companionship” at the time, and her ex fulfilled that need.

“He was such a good companion,” she told her co-host. “He took such nice care of me.”
Erika admitted she was “kind of sad” about Teddi’s breakup, as she considered the “mystery man” a “really nice guy.”
“But I understand you needing to rest and just take care of yourself first, and I think that’s the smartest, healthiest thing you can do,” Erika said. “I think you just need a rest. I think he’s a nice person. And, you know, maybe you need a moment… You have to do what’s right for you, Teddi, and everybody has to do what’s right for them, no matter what it is. You get one shot at this thing called life.”
How Teddi Mellencamp approached dating amid her health issues
Weeks before confirming her breakup, Teddi shared more details about her mystery man and defended her decision to date while battling cancer. The mother of three insisted she was immediately upfront with her then-boyfriend, and said she understood if he didn’t want to get involved with someone in her situation.
“I’m like, ‘If for some reason you realize you need somebody that doesn’t have three kids, 1 million activities to do, 87 podcasts, like, you want more time than I’m able to give? I would not be mad at you for not even a second,’” Teddi recalled in the June 20 episode of Diamonds in the Rough. He’s like, ‘I am willing to do anything to be able to spend time with you’… He’s just a good guy.”
