Tesla is recalling nearly 700,000 vehicles across 16 different car models due to an issue with its tire-pressure monitoring system. The recall is impacting the 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3 and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“The tire pressure monitoring system warning light may not remain illuminated between drive cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tire pressure,” the notice said. “Driving with improperly inflated tires increases the risk of a crash.”

Tesla is releasing a free over-the-air software update to help correct the issue. Owners of the impacted cars will receive notification letters in the mail beginning in mid-February.

Tesla didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The recall adds to a series of recalls impacting Tesla’s Cybertruck since its 2023 launch. This marks the seventh recall for the sharp-angled pickup truck.

Though vehicle recalls aren’t uncommon, Tesla sits at the top of the list when it comes to total vehicles recalled in 2024. In April, the entire batch of 2024 model year Cybertrucks was recalled due to an issue with the accelerator pedal.

Meanwhile, Tesla recalled 2016 model year Model X sport utility vehicles earlier this year because of an issue with roof trim adhesion, affecting about 9,000 vehicles.
