“Running Point,” a Netflix series starring Kate Hudson that is scheduled to debut next week, is at the center of a legal dispute brought by Pepperdine University, which claims the fictional team in the “raunchy comedy” improperly uses the mascot name, logo and colors of the private Christian school.

The suit, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court of the Central District of California, accuses Netflix and Warner Bros. Entertainment of violating the school’s trademarks as well as California state business codes.
