    Following nearly $15 billion in settlements over “forever chemicals” in public drinking water, a special master recommended which firms should get the more than $1 billion in attorney fees.

    Special Master John Perry, of Perry, Balhoff, Mengis & Burns in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who was assigned to allocate attorney fees after U.S. District Judge Richard Gergel, of the Southern District of South Carolina, approved them, considered the “number of hours expended, the professional level of the timekeeper, the nature of the task, and the amount of monetary investment” in determining which firms got what amount.
