Shep Rose is back with another dose of nostalgia.
On Tuesday, February 25, the Southern Charm cast member reshared a decades-old photo presumably from his early college years. The snap showed a much younger Shep sitting on a patio rocking dark green shorts, a white graphic tee, and a bright yellow visor. Very on-trend for the time.
“Oh man. Blast from the past,” he captioned the Story, which included the “Bama” hashtag. “Think this is beach week late 90s!”
Where did Shep Rose attend college?
Although he didn’t provide any more details on the photo, Shep appeared to be donning a University of Alabama shirt featuring the Big Al — the school’s elephant mascot. As some fans know, Shep did not attend UA. He actually earned his bachelor’s degree in 2002 from the University of Georgia and received his MBA in 2009 from the Vanderbilt University School of Management. Shep revisited the latter institution in early 2024, giving fans a quick tour of the campus and his old stomping grounds.
“Good to be back at [Vanderbilt],” he captioned one of the videos. “But the Qdoba is gone! Noooo!”
Shep returned to UGA in early 2020, when the school’s Entrepreneurship Program asked him to deliver a speech to students. He shared his experience in an Instagram post along with photos of UGA’s Terry College of Business.
“I basically did 30 min of bad stand up that is sadly my life story,” he captioned the carousel. “I did thoroughly enjoy fielding their questions and talking about my time working in South Florida, Dubai and failed attempt in Hong Kong in 2010 (funny story). The students and faculty were great. It’s awesome to see how UGA has grown and I’m proud to call it my alma mater!”
Shep Rose shares more details about his family
Although he’s constantly traveling all around the world, Shep has spent most of his life in the South. He shed more light on his Southern upbringing in a 2019 interview with The Daily Dish, saying he was “super lucky” to have his family.
“My dad (William) is a really, really good guy. A kind guy. He’s never really raised his voice at me, which maybe is a problem,” Shep joked. “My mom (Frances) did all the heavy lifting of raising the children, I’ll say that. And I don’t think my dad would dispute that. But he was a kind man.”
Shep said he was more like his mother as they were both known to “talk a lot.”
“I’ve got two parents that — I mean, I’m certainly a piece of work but I know right from wrong,” he said. “I kind of know how to behave myself. Of course, I’m probably disappointing my mom at every other moment, but that’s sort of our relationship. I kind of like offending my mom. And not super offending, but just a little.”
