Brooklyn has seen a host of noteworthy listings ushered on- and off-the-market in the past year, including Oscar Isaac’s Boerum Hill penthouse that asked $4.5 million last November, as well as a $6.7 million apartment in Dumbo that Joe Jonas snapped up. Amidst the picturesque barrage of pre-war brownstones that pack the tree-lined streets of Brooklyn Heights’ a newly built townhouse with some unexpected features has just been listed for $26 million in New York’s first historic district. Aran Scott, Anthony Robles, Susan S. Lee, Peter Perez, and James Vallejos of Douglas Elliman hold the listing.

The land at 295 Hicks Street sold for $4 million in 2021, the New York Post reports, and the eight-bedroom townhouse now stationed there, which includes a rooftop pool and a four-car subterranean garage accessed by a car elevator, is the work of architect Brendan Coburn of The Brooklyn Studio. Should it sell at or very close to the asking price, the six-story abode will break Brooklyn’s current residential sale record that was set in 2021 by a five-story brownstone that fetched $25 million.

The kitchen’s bold marble counters are accented with brass fixtures and hardware.

The front and garage doors, along with two rows of black-framed windows, pop against its red brick facade, which sparks further intrigue via the placement of the bricks that provide a unique texture on the upper floors. Past the ground-floor foyer, herringbone wood floors spread out to connect a trio of open-plan living spaces. A custom-crafted marble fireplace with an inverted ziggurat design anchors the living room beneath 12-foot ceilings, opposite the chef’s kitchen and dining area. Gleaming brass features, including a gleaming air extractor over the stovetop, stand out among the boldly veined marble countertops in the galley kitchen, while the dining area has a wall of glass that opens to a terrace.

Take the skylight-capped staircase or elevator to the upper levels, where details like nine-inch white oak flooring and tilt-and-turn windows with triple-pane glass further distinguish the home’s attention to quality materials and craftsmanship.

The eight-bedroom home sits atop a subterranean private garage with two EV charging stations.

The primary suite covers half of the second floor with dual walk-in closets and a shared dressing area plus a spacious marble and wood bathroom fitted with twin vanities and a steam shower. An en-suite guest room and a library complete the second floor; four other bedrooms, two of them with a private bath, span the third. The fourth floor was designed for relaxing and entertaining. Here, a large lounge is perfect for watching TV, while an adjoining space has a full bar that spills onto a terrace with an outdoor kitchen.

The townhouse is capped by a rooftop terrace with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline, a walkable skylight, an outdoor shower, and a plunge pool that doubles as a spa. Other key elements are found back down on the garden level, where there’s a Zen garden, a meditation room, and a spacious gym that includes a sauna and a steam room. Another en-suite bedroom accommodates guests on this level as well.

And finally, in addition to a 2,000-bottle wine cellar, the basement houses the one feature that really sets this townhouse apart from almost any other, the fully finished multi-car subterranean garage, which is accessible by a car elevator within the street-level garage and is equipped to two EV charging stations.
