Less than one month after filing a complaint in Maine federal court, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and Drummond Woodsum voluntarily dropped a trademark suit against LL Bean that accused a promotional merchandiser of infringing on its “Boat and Tote” canvas bags design.

The Maine-based retail company filed the suit against the promotional merchandiser 4Imprint, claiming the defendant infringed on its “Boat and Tote” design with its “Set Sail Boat Tote” canvas bags in more than a dozen iterations. The “Boat and Tote” mark and product have been associated with the outerwear company since 1965, according to LL Bean’s complaint.
