While he was living in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles about five years ago, Dan Hubbert started dreaming about owning a country home with lots of land, privacy, and animals. The former Sony, Capitol, and Columbia Records executive and his soon-to-be wife Rebecca wound up falling in love with a picturesque ranch tucked away in Central California’s Santa Ynez Valley, about 40 minutes north of Santa Barbara.

The couple immediately knew they had to make it their own and went on to acquire the property for nearly $2.4 million and subsequently undertook an extensive renovation. Now, the current CEO of the top fitness tunes brand Power Music is putting the fully transformed spread back on the market for a dash under $10 million. Carl Gambino and John Bersci of The Gambino Group at Compass hold the listing.

Nestled beyond an olive tree-lined drive and two-acre pasture, amid a flat elevated mesa within the gated Rancho Estates community, the six-plus-acre compound is centered around a mid-1960s ranch house with three bedrooms and four baths in roughly 4,200 square feet of modern living space boasting vaulted cedar ceilings and several fireplaces complemented by brass, copper, and raked-concrete finishes. Vast expanses of glass overlook sweeping views of the Los Padres National Forest and mountains beyond.

Once inside the steel-framed entry door, highlights include an open-concept great room anchored by a living area sporting an asymmetrical copper-clad fireplace and an Italian marble bar with wine storage. A dining area connects to the kitchen, which comes with burnt-orange cabinetry, open shelves, an eat-in island, and Wolf and Miele appliances. Elsewhere is a den bathed in a deep forest green hue and a fireside primary suite that has a big bath with a freestanding soaking tub, glassy shower, and walk-in closet.

The oak tree-laced grounds host a fire pit, a barbecue station, and a circular infinity pool with an inset spa, along with a variety of fruit trees, berry bushes, champagne grape vines, and an olive grove that recently yielded 55 drums of extra-virgin oil. Additional structures across the property include a guesthouse with an en suite bedroom, a kitchenette, a gym, and an office, as well as a workshop, a chicken coop, and a bee house.

Rounding it all out: a private fiber-optic line for working remotely and a Control4 smart-home system that operates the lights, sound, and security, plus an attached two-car garage. Plans for an entertainment barn also come with the sale.

Hubbert has chosen to sell because his wife’s mother recently passed away. “Since we’re both originally from Connecticut, and still have family there, my mom and siblings, and her dad, we’ve made the tough decision to return East to be closer to them,” he said. “We absolutely adore the Santa Ynez Valley. Our view is arguably the best in the valley. At night we fall asleep to the sounds of owls and coyotes, and wake to birdsong and clucking hens. It’s easily one of the most breathtaking places on Earth.”
