Algolia has released its MCP Server, a new tool that gives AI agents real-time, secure access to structured business data.

Algolia is a search and discovery software provider. It designed the new product to connect large language models (LLMs) and AI agents to its search and analytics systems, enabling them to retrieve data and carry out actions such as updating search indexes, adjusting ranking settings, and initiating workflows. These operations use secure, standards-based protocols.

“Agents today still hallucinate and struggle with brittle integrations,” said Bharat Guruprakash, chief product officer at Algolia. “MCP closes that gap by connecting AI to real-time, structured context and safe execution paths.”

How Algolia is reducing hallucinations for its AI agents

The MCP Server supports the Model Context Protocol and is already being used in applications like automated travel bookings and ecommerce personalization. It includes policy enforcement, observability tools, and GDPR-compliant data handling.

GDPR refers to the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation. It sets rules for how companies handle consumers’ personal data.

Algolia says the tool is aimed at developers building software where AI agents must perform tasks, not just respond to queries. The company plans to expand support to federated data sources and enable persistent memory for agents.

The launch reflects a shift in focus for Algolia, which is moving beyond search to support more complex AI-driven applications, the company notes.
