It’s another career win for Cynthia Bailey.
Following The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16 finale, the multi-hyphenate took to Instagram to celebrate her next on-screen gig. Cynthia reposted an article announcing her starring role in Diamond, a coming-of-age sports drama written by DeShon Hardy.
“Here we go,” she captioned the July 23 post.
Cynthia Bailey to star in sports drama alongside Vernon Davis
According to Deadline, Cynthia will play the adversity-stricken mother of Diamond McCarren, a teenage basketball prodigy attempting to break the cycle of family trauma. Jemarcus Kilgore will portray the title character, while former NFL tight end Vernon Davis will play Diamond’s incarcerated father.
The film will follow Diamond as he vies for a Division I scholarship — a longtime goal that is derailed after his mother suffers a drug overdose. The incident forces the student-athlete to make a difficult decision: Will he abandon his hoop dreams to care for his mom?

Cynthia Bailey pivots to acting: “This is the next chapter”
Cynthia made her acting debut in the 1990 film Without You I’m Nothing, starring Sandra Bernhard. She went on to land minor roles in TV series, like The Cosby Show and New York Undercover, before joining RHOA in Season 3 (2010). Her return to the small screen eventually led to more acting jobs, including appearances in Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, Terror Lake Drive, Games People Play, and BMF.

The Alabama native spoke about her acting career in a 2021 interview with Page Six, just weeks after announcing she would not return as a full-time RHOA cast member.
“This was the intentional next step for me. This is the next chapter. And not only is it the next chapter, it’s the last chapter, OK?” she joked about her acting career. “You guys had Cynthia Bailey the model, you guys got to follow Cynthia Bailey the reality star. Now you guys are going to get to see Cynthia Bailey the actress. And what’s happening after that? Nothing. I’m a 55-year-old woman in full pre-menopause! This is it, OK?”

After months of teasers and growing speculation, the mother of one confirmed she was involved with Dutch-born musician LePrince.
