Williams Sonoma’s Italian Washed Linen Tablecloth is exceptionally soft from the stonewashing process the fabric has endured. In addition, the wash gives the fabric a lovely, relaxed, and crinkled finish that can be ironed out, if preferred. 

The tablecloth can be machine-washed and becomes even softer after each wash. Because this tablecloth is available in three lighter colors, you may want to purchase a spray fabric protector made specially for linen, which will help protect the material from stains. Though the color options are limited, the available hues are classic and sophisticated.

Rough Linen’s Orkney linen tablecloth is heavier and thicker, making it an ideal table covering for daily use. The round tablecloth has a lovely, fluid drape, made possible by the stabilized raw edge, rather than a hem that might have made it less organic. 

However, the raw edge may be a little casual or too rustic for some occasions, so keep aesthetics in mind if you typically lean toward a polished look. You also may need to take some time to smooth the raw edges after washing.

It’s recommended to partially dry the tablecloth in the dryer and then use your hands to smooth out wrinkles when it is placed on a flat surface to air dry. If the Orkney tablecloth is still extra wrinkly when you’re ready to use it, prep it by placing it on your table, lightly spraying it with water, then smoothing out the creases with your hands.

You could even drape it over another, brighter linen if you want to cover your table completely. We think it would also look elegant tossed onto a rustic farmhouse wood table. This OEKO-TEX certified throw can be machine washed on a delicate or gentle cycle only, and it’s recommended to line dry or tumble dry on low heat for a soft finish.

For a truly soft tablecloth, opt for a linen and cotton blend like this one from H&M. Adding cotton to the mix also means the tablecloth will look less wrinkled.

This design only comes in two neutral colors (white or beige), and you’ll have to click into a separate product listing for the longer 126-inch size. This tablecloth may also feel thinner than 100 percent linen designs, but it’s easier to care for since you can opt to have it dry cleaned.

If you have a 12-foot-long table, this oversized linen tablecloth from Crate & Barrel is made for your needs. Even if you don’t have an extra-large table, an oversized linen tablecloth like this looks wonderful when it’s dramatically draped and pooled on the floor.

It’s not always easy to find a small, square 100 percent linen tablecloth like this one from Linen World. We love the vision of this tablecloth paired with white dishware for a modern look, earthenware dishes for a rustic feel, or fine china and crystal glassware for a formal feel. 

We also love the classic hemstitch border options (available in navy, natural linen, white, and sage green), which add more visual interest to the tablecloth. It’s also available in brighter colors like peach and Christmas green.

We only wish it were a little easier to decipher which colors are available for the square size on the product listing, since the gray outlines (showing the colors as in stock) are challenging to see.
