I’ve been testing the Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni since moving into my new house in Florida a few months ago, and I can honestly say that this thing is on another level. I’ve used two other robot vacuums in the past, so I had a good sense of what to expect, but this one blew me away. The sleek, slim base unit looks great too—much more refined than the bulkier models I’ve used before. Even the front panel opens up neatly to reveal a separate tank for the cleaning solution. I’ve only had to top that off once in two months of daily use.

I run the Deebot X9 every single day on the first floor of my home (about 750 square feet), and it does a thorough job, even with an Australian shepherd tracking in dirt and shedding constantly. The app keeps a log of each cleaning the unit performs, including the square footage covered and cleaning time, which is a nice touch. I usually set it to Standard or Deep Clean mode. Even the “Quick” clean takes its time, but I don’t mind since the results are consistently excellent. On average, Deep Clean takes about 130 minutes, and yes, the robot always returns to the base halfway through to recharge before finishing. A slightly longer-lasting battery would be nice, but it’s a fair trade for the level of cleaning the unit provides.

Little features make a big difference on this vacuum mop combo. The mop roller actually dries completely thanks to the built-in hot air drier in the base station, which is astounding: that mildew-y mop smell, which I absolutely cannot stand, is familiar to most people who use traditional mops or robot mops without this feature. Users can even adjust the drying time. (I have mine set to 2 hours, and it works perfectly.) The robot also smartly detects walls and extends the mop pad outward for edge cleaning. It only has one front brush instead of two, but I haven’t noticed any issues—it still picks up every crumb, hair, and muddy paw print in its path.

Maintenance is simple. The app provides reminders when it’s time to wipe down sensors or clean parts, and after 2 months, I still haven’t needed to deep clean the mop. It smells fresh, looks great, and best of all, I barely have to think about it.
