This new hotel in Mexico is all about luxurious seclusion.
The Ritz-Carlton just opened the doors to its Siari locale this week, a retreat that’s surrounded by lush jungle and Pacific views in Riviera Nayarit’s Emerald Coast. The property marks the ninth entrant into the hotelier’s Reserve portfolio that’s embedded in wellness and connection to local traditions, inviting its guests to slow down and take in nature.
And you get to experience all the flora and aquatic beauty the minute you step onto the private 920-acre expanse that Siari calls home. (That wilderness is reflected in the property’s name, too, which translates to the Uto-Aztecan word for “green.”) The Ritz-Carlton tapped Bernardi + Peschard Arquitectura, a Mexico City–based firm, to mold the hotel and its 91 rooms right into its landscape. Looming over the edge of a cliff, Siari includes details such as locally quarried stones, native woods, and handwoven textures that are an homage to Nayarit’s indigenous people, as well as an open-air design that lets you take in your surroundings from every angle.

As for those accommodations, Siari offers up everything from 2,873-square-foot beachfront villas to 979-square-foot oceanview suites—with their own butler service to boot. Décor here also reflects the landscape, with green hues and warm woods dotting the rooms. Or, if you’re looking for even more solitude, check out one of the 34 private residences, each offering up four or five bedrooms for more extended vacations as well as a private infinity pool and a prime location near the area’s largest swimmable beach.
In the kitchen, chef David Castro Hussong leads the charge at the hotel’s five dining spots, each connecting their plates to the traditions of Nayarit. Head to Zula to enjoy a fresh take in Nayarit cuisine or to Naao for Asian-inspired dishes with a local flair. Masa Madre, meanwhile, is an ode to wood-fire cooking, and Estero takes classic local fare and adds touches inspired by practices around the world. For dessert, pastry chef Maribel Aldaco helms her eponymous spot; and for a tipple or two, there are a variety of bars about to enjoy, though the star of the show is Library Bar, with classic cocktails and vintages on standby.
As we mentioned, heritage plays a big role in your stay at Siari. That begins with a symbolic tradition called nierika, where guests walk barefoot through rosewater to cleanse the heart and soul. From there, you’ll be given a xukuri, a bowl of locally foraged herbs that signifies your arrival at a nature-focused retreat. The local identity seeps into the hotel’s wellness practices, too. Siari’s temple to restoration, Há Yeka (meaning “water” and “well-being” in the native language of Wixárika), offers up 28,000 square feet of relaxation nestled in green gardens. Practices here include a blend of ancient Huichol healing rituals and modern practices, such as hydrotherapies and volcanic stone treatments in outdoor treatment rooms.

Of course, the Emerald Coast is your backyard here, and you can choose to either explore the region on your own or via guided hikes and private yachts. Siari also has its own private golf course designed by Tom Fazio.
“Our vision for Siari is to create a retreat where discovery unfolds naturally,” said Guillermo Varela, Siari’s general manager, said in a press statement. “From the moment of arrival, every experience is designed to awaken the senses and reconnect guests to the rhythm of this extraordinary place.”
Siari, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve sits just 45 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta airport. The hotel also serves up private FBO services, two helipads, and its own marina access, giving you plenty of ways to check out that seclusion all for yourself.
