Injured parties being forced to relive past horrors multiple times on a witness stand are among the problems some plaintiffs’ lawyers see in Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s tort reform legislation that state lawmakers are considering this year.

The legislation passed a major hurdle Feb. 21 when the Georgia State Senate approved its version of the bill—which is Kemp’s top legislative priority—on a 33-21 vote mostly along party lines. The legislation now moves to the Georgia House of Representatives and could become law upon passage this year.
